In an economy where disposable income is not readily available on your farm, you need equipment that can keep up with the demanding tasks of your farm but still won’t break the bank.

At this year’s Balfour Hay Day on 21 January, Valtrac proudly showcased Mahindra tractors, the latest addition to their product range. According to Bronwyn Cilliers, General Manager at Valtrac, they’ve realised that many farmers don’t have access to disposable income.

“It’s fairly tough out there, the prices for products aren’t good. But the last thing you want to do is compromise on the quality of feed that you are giving your animals. With the Mahindra tractors, we are showing that you can still make quality feed, you can have the right implements and still put an affordable tractor in front of it,” she said.

Advantages of owning a Mahindra tractor

Bronwyn explained that although Mahindra tractors are quite basic, they are ruggedly built strong, heavy tractors compared to others in their class.

“It is a tractor that we think in the long run will help a farmer to make money and is not going to cost them money,” she said.

The advantage of these tractors is that they are distributed by Mahindra South Africa, which, means that parts and services are readily available.

“Mahindra has really gone to a lot of effort over the last few years to find out what the needs of the South African farmers are, not just from a product point of view, but also from an after-sales point of view.”

Mahindra offers a five-year warranty on their tractors, which means that farmers won’t have to spend a lot of money on repairs during that period.

The company also has a three-day turnaround time on all repairs and maintenance, however, if they need more time, they’ll assist farmers with other arrangements to ensure their farming operations keep running smoothly.

Extensive range of Mahindra tractors

The Mahindra 6075 and 6060 tractors demonstrated their power by pulling Valtrac’s Pottinger implements.

As a heavy-duty four-wheel-drive utility tractor, the Mahindra 6075 is known for its durability, powerful engine and high lift capacity.

This tractor forms part of Mahindra’s 6000 Series and comes with a 56 kW four-stroke, turbocharged, direct injection, water-cooled diesel engine, 48 kW PTO, and an operating weight of approximately 3 400 kg.

The 6060 is a two-wheel-drive utility tractor that is designed for a wide range of medium-duty activities on the farm. This tractor comes with a 44 kW four-stroke, direct injection, turbocharged, water-cooled diesel engine, Direct Injection, a 37 kW PTO and an operating weight of 2 530 kg.

“There is a lot of work that two-wheel-drive tractors can do on farms, and although they have lost popularity, they are great for doing the run-around work on your farm,” Bronwyn said.

With Mahindra as part of their product range, Valtrac believes they’ll be able to offer farmers exactly what they need in the price range they can afford. Valtrac believes in helping their customers thrive and by joining hands with Mahindra, this endeavour is one step closer to achieving that goal.
