Pottinger self loading trailers

Pöttinger is the world market leader for forage wagons. The FARO and JUMBO self-loading silage trailers make collecting grass easy. From a 22m3 FARO which requires a 65kW tractor to a JUMBO which can load 50m3, there are many sizes and options to choose from when ordering your Pöttinger trailer. In addition to collecting grass, your trailer can also be used as a regular silage trailer transporting maize from the lands to the bunkers.

The Pöttinger trailers and pickups have even proven their flexability and durability by collecting sugar cane bagasse in Swaziland, reducing operation and maintenance costs significantly.

Grass silage

Grass silage is a convenient way to ensure that your livestock have good quality feed all year round. Although popular in Europe, grass silage is still in its infancy in South Africa. Some of the benefits include:

  • The risk of fire damage is less than that for bales.
  • Grass silage is easy to mix into a ration for feedlots and dairies.
  • When made well grass silage can be kept for a year or even longer.
  • There is no waiting for the grass to dry before baling, so silage can be made when feed potential of the grass is highest and even if it looks like it might rain.

Green-chop is also a viable option for feedlots and with a Pöttinger alpha motion front mounted mower and forage wagon combination, feedlot cattle can be fed with a single pass operation.
